2012 German Alumni Event - Cambridge
With a full agenda of events, we started with welcome drinks on Friday 15 June in the Hilton Hotel in Cambridge. On Saturday 16 June the main event took place - first thing in the morning alumni were invited back on to our Cambridge campus to join our academic staff from the Business School for breakfast. A short presentation was played whilst we tucked in to freshly made pastries. The presentation was showcasing Anglia Ruskin's achievements, illustrating our world-leading research, our high performing courses and our plans for the future.
Lecturers Robert Jones and Tim Froggett enjoyed discussing next year's possible event with Christian Ramcke, our Alumni Ambassador for Germany. We will have more information on our 2013 event soon.
We finished with a mini campus tour - thank you to Stella Duncan for helping and leading this and well done to Tim for hanging on with a knee injury! Many who attended had not been back to our campus since graduating, so we had lots of very impressed alumni when they saw all the changes and our new buildings. They were especially impressed with the new library facilities, lecture theatres, new student bar and the various networking areas for students.
Thank you to all our alumni that attended, and I look forward to seeing you all next year!
Below are listed the events we are organising outside the UK. In addition, we will post when our staff are travelling overseas and will have time to host an informal evening.

Alumni gathering in France - 4 October 2011
Our Alumni Ambassador in France, Guillaume Bourgeais, has very kindly completed a write-up from the Alumni gathering. If you did not make it this year, then watch out for the 2012 event!A huge thank you to Guillaume for helping and hosting this alumni gathering in Paris.
French Alumni gathering at Frog & Rosbiff Pub, Paris, by Guillaume Bourgeais
Attended:- Jacques AYO / promotion 2004
- Victor TAN SEAN / promotion 2004
- Elaine Vallet / promotion 2000
- Severin DE POMMERY / 1997
- Valérie NICOLE / 1997
- Isabelle GIROUDOT / promotion 1998
- Manuel ODESSER / promotion 2002
- Cédric LAUTARD / promotion 2000
- Guillaume BOURGEAIS / promotion 2000
7 years since graduating, Victor and Jacques, co-graduates in 2004, recognised themselves as they entered the pub and was reminiscing their study days together.
Jacques set-up a tyre export business in the USA, Jacques works for SNCF (French railways). Surprisingly, Valérie also works in the tyre business (Goodyear) that was a funny coincidence.
I saw 2 friends of mine, a couple I used to hang out with at A.P.U Cambridge, and also I still see in Paris regularly. Elaine and Cédric, still together after all these years! Elaine is a teacher and Cédric works for an association that finds accommodation for poorer people.
Isabelle, a successful consultant in strategy for big companies was exchanging points of view with Manuel (I.T engineer) and Severin (European head of logistics for a big Chinese company) regarding the international financial crisis... After a few minutes, it went a bit too technical for me!
We talked about our customs back in time in England: riding bikes, open house parties and stuff...Everybody agreed that it would be interesting to have younger graduates so we could exchange a little more on how it was in our times, and it is now in Cambridge and Chelmsford.

Malaysia alumni event in Kaula Lumpur -1 October 2011
The first official alumni event in Malaysia was successfully organised by Raymond Lee, our Country Development Manager for South East Asia, with our Country Ambassador, Eddie Law. We wished to show that Anglia Ruskin University is always very keen to maintain relationships with alumni in order for them to feel a sense of belonging to their alma mater. The event has also helped to promote our University in the Malaysian market.Over 50 alumni from all over Malaysia attended the event, which was held in the Crowne Plaza Mutiara along with a representative from the British Council Alumni Office. Mr Low, Head of School of Business from KBU College, one of our partners in Malaysia, was also there and it was also covered by the local press.
The event was a great success and many who attended would like to make this a yearly affair. Rhidian Lewis from our Law School and Jacqui McCary from Science & Technology were there to meet guests and to update them on any new developments.

German Alumni Reunion - 2010
Our German Alumni gathered on 27 November 2010 in BerlinAlumni & Development Officer Erin Butcher flew over to Berlin with Tim Froggett from our Ashcroft International Business School to host the 2010 networking event. It was great to see so many of our alumni there and we really value the opportunity to meet with you all, let you know what's going on back at your University, and hear what you are doing. The beer's pretty good too!
We have had suggestions that next year we could do something a bit different, maybe not a restaurant, but somewhere with some dancing. Do let us know what you think - this event is for you, so we want to organise something you will wish to come along to. Email alumni@anglia.ac.uk
