TB Huxley-Jones and Mid-Essex Technical College School of Art
We have been contacted by Andrew Latham asking for our help. Andrew's grandfather worked with sculptor and our ex-staff member TB Huxley-Jones. In partnership with Wolverhampton Art Gallery - formerly Wolverhampton Art School where Huxley-Jones studied - he is currently researching the life and work of Huxley-Jones, with input from Alexandra Harley ARBS, Neal French FRBS (who worked as his assistant at the college) and Hilary Frew FRBS from the Royal Society of Portrait Sculptors, of which Huxley-Jones was a founding member.
Andrew is hoping to publish a small book detailing the career and works of Huxley-Jones and where they might be found. This coincides with the permanent display of Huxley-Jones' sculptures and the Society of Portrait Sculptors 50th anniversary. Any profit from the book will be put towards a figurative and portrait sculpture prize in his name to raise the profile of sculpting and arts in Essex.
Andrew would like to appeal to any of our alumni who may have memories or information about Huxley-Jones, and asks they please email alumni@anglia.ac.uk and the Development & Alumni Office will gladly pass the information on.
