Writtle University College and ARU have merged. Writtle’s full range of college, degree, postgraduate and short courses will still be delivered on the Writtle campus. See our guide to finding Writtle information on this site.

Communicating and sharing our research

Making sure that we communicate and share our research is an essential part of our university’s mission.

One of our primary aims is to enhance social, cultural and economic well-being at a local, national and international level. We recognise research to be a public good, and believe that to obtain the greatest benefits from it, it must be shared as widely and as openly as possible.

Open Access

Open Access (OA) means making research freely accessible to users, who may read, reuse and redistribute that research, usually without restriction, so long as the original author(s) are properly acknowledged and cited.

Anglia Ruskin Research Online (ARRO) is our institutional repository. It's open to all researchers based at Anglia Ruskin.

Launched in 2010 with the aim to showcase and preserve the research outputs of members of our university community, ARRO is a means of increasing exposure to research work, benefiting individual researchers and our University as a whole.

Full-text outputs deposited in ARRO are available on an open-access basis. We're currently developing a complementary research data repository.

The Anglia Ruskin Open Access Fund

We've established a £70,000 annual fund to support ‘gold’ open access publishing costs. This funding is available to eligible Anglia Ruskin academic staff on a first-come-first-served basis.

Concordat for Engaging the Public with Research

The Concordat for Engaging the Public with Research (PDF) outlines the expectations and responsibilities of research funders with respect to public engagement, to help embed public engagement in universities and research institutes. This will enhance the future of research and benefit the UK society and economy.

Anglia Ruskin is a signatory to the Manifesto on Public Engagement, organised by the National Coordinating Centre for Public Engagement (NCCPE) as a means for institutions to demonstrate their support for the Concordat.
