A lecturer from Anglia Ruskin University's Department of Vision and Hearing Sciences has been nominated for a prestigious national award in recognition of her services to optics.
Rupal Lovell-Patel, Course Group Leader for Optometry and Ophthalmic Dispensing, has been shortlisted for the Association of Optometrists (AOP) Lecturer of the Year award, which recognises dynamic and informative teaching that inspires clinical excellence amongst students.
Rupal, who has been in the profession for 17 years, said: "I am honoured to be shortlisted for an amazing award and what makes it even better is that my students put my name forward for this award. I am really proud of my students and thank them for such a generous gift." Former AOP Chairman and AOP Awards 2014 Head Judge, David Shannon, said: "The standard of entrants for this year's AOP Awards has been exceptionally high and in reaching the shortlist the nominees have shown both innovation and distinction." Rupal is hoping to make it a double celebration for Anglia Ruskin after her Department of Vision and Hearing Sciences colleague Liam Kite won the award last year.
