The Princess Alexandra Hospital Harlow (PAH) is now an established centre for musculoskeletal research. A variety of studies including audits, observational and complex interventional clinical trials have been completed at PAH in collaboration with local and regional partners.
The focus of the unit is to give PAH patients an opportunity to participate in clinical trials and have access to new/emerging therapies. Collaborations (local, regional and national) have resulted in continuous high quality research at PAH. Significant cost savings for the NHS have been possible as a result of the availability free drugs as part of clinical studies. Rheumatology research has promoted/stimulated research in other disciplines in the trust.
