The ILS instructor Course (ILSi) helps develop effective teaching skills for ILS instructors. Once instructor skills are learned they will need to be developed with continuing practice and experience.
The course includes lectures, demos, skills practice, scenario teaching and role play. Assessment is continuous throughout the course. Successful candidates will receive a Resuscitation Council (UK) ILS instructor certificate, which is valid for four years. To maintain instructor status, you're required to teach on a minimum of two ILS courses per year, or one ILS course and two ILS recertification courses. Recertification of ILS instructor status is undertaken every four years and takes place during an ILS course on which the instructor is teaching.
Only candidates who have been recommended as having instructor potential (IP) from their ILS course can attend. ALS providers can be nominated provided they meet the selection criteria. The ILSi course must be undertaken within two years of the date of the provider course.
Please forward your IP Letter/ the selection of ILS instructors letter to firstname.lastname@example.org. This must be submitted 5-6 weeks prior to the course date. Once eligibility has been confirmed, details on how to book will be forwarded to candidates.
