A charity performance, in aid of the Anglia Ruskin Music Therapy Appeal, will showcase REBOP and friends who will be performing in Essex at the Cramphorn Theatre, Fairfield Road, Chelmsford on Friday 17 November.

The repertory jazz quintet specialises in bebop, the innovative and exhilarating modern music that flowered in the USA in the mid-1940s in the hands of Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk and other great jazzmen. The band features Kevin Flanagan (sax), Paul Higgs (trumpet), Chris Ingham (piano), Rev Andrew Brown (bass) and Roger Odell (drums). The friends will comprise jazz students of Anglia Ruskin University.

With the help of generous sponsorship by Countryside Properties, all profits will go to the Anglia Ruskin Music Therapy Appeal. This appeal is raising funds to help with the cost of treatment for those who could otherwise not afford it and for the purchase and repair of special equipment and musical instruments appropriate to clients with special needs. Funds are also needed for the training of practitioners and for research into Music Therapy practice.

Sue Jacobs from Anglia Ruskin University said:

“We are expecting that this event will be a major success from which everyone will benefit. REBOP have a dedicated following in the Eastern Region, and we are delighted to have them lined up for this special fund-raising evening.”

“The Music Therapy Appeal is one of our foremost charities. It is very well supported by staff and students and if we can have the continued backing of the people of Chelmsford we will continue to make good things happen for those who rely on this excellent therapy.”
