Prospective students will get the chance to explore Anglia Ruskin University’s new student accommodation in Cambridge during the undergraduate Open Day on Saturday, 19 November.

Located near Cambridge train station, construction began on the CB1 development in March, and a show flat is now ready to give students starting in September 2012 a taste of what to expect. Once building work is completed, the three new accommodation blocks will contain 511 ensuite rooms, including 112 self-contained studio flats.

Paul Harris, Anglia Ruskin’s Accommodation Services Manager, said:

“The rooms will be within easy walking or cycling distance of our East Road campus. Alongside our accommodation, the CB1 development plans include a range of other buildings – including shops, restaurants, bars, residential space and offices.

“We look forward to offering this lifestyle to our students and believe it will be a great asset to Anglia Ruskin University.”

Brookgate and its partners have invested in the development and Anglia Ruskin will be leasing it on a nomination agreement, which means guaranteed long-term availability of student accommodation in Cambridge.

In addition to tours of the CB1 show flat, Anglia Ruskin’s Open Day will include a full range of activities and discussions, with the faculties of Arts, Law & Social Sciences; Science & Technology; Health, Social Care & Education and Lord Ashcroft International Business School all providing information about their courses.

The Open Day, which runs from 10am-3pm, will also offer visitors the opportunity to find out what it is like to study at Anglia Ruskin, explore the Cambridge campus, and learn more about the pastoral support available to students. There will also be experts on hand to answer questions about the new student finance system which comes into effect from next year.

Anglia Ruskin’s undergraduate Open Days usually attract between 800-1,000 prospective students to the campus, plus members of their family and friends. Anyone interested in attending the 19 November Open Day can simply turn up on the day. For further information, please call 0845 271 3333 or visit www.anglia.ac.uk/openday.
