Will be performing at the Mumford Theatre, Cambridge on Friday February 27 (1.10 pm) as part of Anglia Ruskin University’s Spring Lunchtime Concert Series.

Directed by Squadron Leader Duncan Stubbs, the 10-piece ensemble is drawn from the main body of players which comprise the RAF Central  Band. The bassoon soloist will be Senior Air Craftsman, Neil Chapman, an Anglia Ruskin music graduate. Their programme includes the Sinfonietta  Op. 188by Joachim Raff, Serenade for Sophia by Guy Woolfenden plus pieces by Jean Francaix and Wolf-Ferrari.

The Woodwind Ensemble is playing at Anglia Ruskin by kind permission of the Air Force Board of the Defence Council.

Series Director Alan Rochford, from Anglia Ruskin University’s Department of Music and Performing Arts, said:

"We have a stunning range of  performers lined up for the Spring Lunchtime Concert Series which  is gaining a considerable following here in Cambridge."

"This is the first time that we have included the Woodwind Ensemble of  the Central Band of the Royal Air Force in our lunchtime programme and  we are very much looking forward to the concert which, with the performers all in full military uniform, should be highly memorable in  terms of both sight and sound.”

A number of retired members of the RAF will be attending as special guests. Admission is free and open to members of the general public.
