Open Day visitors get the inside track on courses ranging from film and television to complementary medicine

Courses to be showcased include those feeding into the creative industries and the health and social care sector

Anglia Ruskin University is hoping to attract people from all over theEast of England to its Chelmsford and Cambridge campuses for a day of discussions and activities, which will help to reveal the many higher education opportunities available to them.
The forthcoming Open Day on Saturday 9 May and will allow potential students to find out more about undergraduate study at our campuses.

A range of nursing and healthcare courses with September 2009 entry dates will be featured at the forthcoming event including Adult, Mental Health, and Learning Disabilities Nursing; and Complementary Medicine.

At the same time, a brand new course, starting September 2009, will be previewed at the Open Day.  Anglia Ruskin University’s Faculty of Arts, Law and Social Sciences is launching the new course in Film and TV Production Management. The Foundation Degree (FdA) aims to develop skills in the management of the film and TV production processes giving students a head start when it comes to applying for jobs in the sector.  The programme cover the hard skills associated with the job including budgeting, scheduling, managing people, teams, resources and risk.  Students will make their own films and TV shows.

This two-year course leads to a Foundation Degree award with the opportunity to progress to Anglia Ruskin University’s BA (Hons) degree in Film and TV Production.

Other exhibitors involved in the Anglia Ruskin University Open Day event will include the Students’ Union, Sports Department, Community Development Office, University Chaplaincy, and the Employer Mentoring team which matches second year students with employees from local organisations. 

The Faculties involved in the Open Day include Arts Law and Social Sciences, Science & Technology, the Ashcroft International Business School, Education and Faculty of Health & Social Care.

Anglia Ruskin University Open Days generally attract 800-1000 prospective students to the campus plus members of their family and friends. There are four Open Days staged during the year. Each one is a key recruitment day for Anglia Ruskin.

It is has now been officially recognised that world-leading research is being carried out at Anglia Ruskin University. 

In the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2008, more than 30% of Anglia Ruskin’s submissions were rated as Internationally Excellent or World-Leading. Among the academic disciplines now rated World-Leading are Allied Health Professions & Studies; Art & Design; English Language & Literature; Geography & Environmental Studies; History; Music; Psychology; and Social Work & Social Policy & Administration. 

The University jumped 35 places in the Times Higher Education tables following the announcement of the outcome of the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) results.
