An audience with MP at Anglia Ruskin University

Political heavyweight the Rt Hon Liam Fox MP will be put on the spot at Anglia Ruskin University on Monday, 10th March.

The former defence secretary will be interviewed by Dr Matthew Hill, senior lecturer in international relations. Dr Hill will delve deeper into the subjects discussed in Dr Fox’s new book, Rising Tides, on the threats and fears faced by governments and decision-makers in the face of the ever-changing modern-day security threats.

Dr Fox’s book highlights the delicate balance between pursuing potential terror suspects and the need to respect their liberties, and this is a subject Dr Hill will be examining in more detail during the talk.

Dr Hill said:

“An audience with Dr Liam Fox is an opportunity to listen to a former government minister discussing their views on the complicated globalising world. Discussing his recent publication, Rising Tides, Dr Fox will elaborate on his views on issues such as the role and responsibilities of the UK in the world to the balance a government must make between protecting the liberties of people and their security.”

The talk is part of the Essex Book Festival and will take place at 7.30pm at Anglia Ruskin University’s Chelmsford campus in Bishop Hall Lane, Chelmsford. Tickets cost £7 or £6 for concessions. To book your place, call the Mercury Theatre box office on 01206 573948.
