University is nominated for a variety of higher education sector awards

Chelmsford and Cambridge based Anglia Ruskin University is celebrating after six of its submissions have been shortlisted in four categories in the 2010 Heist awards. The annual Heist awards recognize and celebrate excellence in further and higher education marketing and are the most competitive marketing awards in the sector.

Anglia Ruskin will compete against other leading UK education institutions in the categories of Best Integrated Campaign, Best Higher Education Prospectus, Best Postgraduate Prospectus and Heist's Marketing Department of the Year.

The Faculty of Health & Social Care has been shortlisted in the Best Integrated Campaign category for further enhancing its recruitment campaign by focusing on student conversion and retention.  Looking at results and data from last year’s marketing campaigns, it was decided the Faculty of Health and Social Care (FHSC) needed to concentrate converting enquiries and retaining students rather than purely driving enquiry figures as a way to recruit to target.

Explains Recruitment and Marketing Manager, Alexandra Rosenthal:

"With government changes in place and student capping with fines for over recruitment, successful strategies are no longer about the number of applicants a university generates but about the quality of applicants that convert to enrolments in order to lower attrition rates.  It was apparent that the Marketing Team needed to concentrate on lowering the drop out rate by engaging enquiries and applicants from an early stage – right at the beginning of the recruitment process - to ensure the right calibre of students applied."

Anglia Ruskin secured a nomination in the category of Best Higher Education Prospectus for three of its flagship publications. These included the Full-time Undergraduate Prospectus, Part-time Catalogue and Full-time Undergraduate Personalised Prospectus.  Anglia Ruskin’s 2009 Part-time Catalogue was awarded the Bronze Award in its category last year, and continues to be recognised as a leader in best practice with this year’s nomination. While the Undergraduate and Personalised Prospectuses have been shortlisted for their innovative new design, bespoke magazine style size and advanced use of technological developments during their production.

In the Best Postgraduate Prospectus category, Anglia Ruskin’s publication has been recognised for its relevance to the demands of a changing market. Speaking about the nomination, Senior Marketing Executive, Gayle Daley said:

"We were determined that the key challenge in building and promoting our full-time postgraduate portfolio of courses was to address the overarching need to provide courses that fit our students’ personal circumstances and professional requirements. Our Postgraduate Prospectus ensures relevance to the individual and the economy, offering our prospective postgraduate students a range of courses that will equip them with the extra skills or experience needed to differentiate their CV in a more competitive employment market."

The work of Anglia Ruskin University’s Marketing Department is being celebrated on a whole this year with its shortlisting for Heist's prestigious Marketing Department of the Year. The Department, based cross-campus at Chelmsford and Cambridge, has been working hard to deliver an engaging, innovative and effective online prospectus, which has enabled Anglia Ruskin to streamline its offline prospectus production process and use the latest print on demand technologies.

The winners of the 20th HEIST awards will be announced at an Awards Gala Dinner held at the Palace Hotel in Manchester on 27 May 2010.
