Anglia Ruskin University welcomed 1,800 Year 9 students from local schools in its biggest ever Eyes on the Prize event.

Children visited Anglia Ruskin’s campuses in Cambridge and Chelmsford and took part in ten half-day programmes beginning with an introduction to the student journey from school to further education or training, followed by a campus tour and an interactive exhibition.

Tours were given by Anglia Ruskin Student Ambassadors, who gave the pupils an insight into what being a university student is like. The exhibition highlighted the range of courses and facilities at Anglia Ruskin and also featured stands from other Higher Education institutions as well as training providers and employers.

Paul Dunton, Outreach and Recruitment Officer at Anglia Ruskin, said:

“This is a crucial time for pupils in Year 9 across our region as they choose the GCSEs and begin to think about the path they are going to take in the future."

“Whether they choose to go into higher education or not, it is important for them to understand as early as possible the options that are open for them. These sessions have given them a chance to learn more about what the future holds and have a lot of fun in the process.”
