Rudolph is the course leader for Medical Science BSc (Hons) at Anglia Ruskin University.


Rudolph's research career reflects consistent high quality outputs in the form of high impact publications and the successful delivery of masters and doctoral students. In addition to his position at Anglia Ruskin University, he is affiliated with the Hypertension in Africa Research Team, in South Africa as an Extraordinary Professor and University College London as a Visiting Senior Research Fellow.

Research interests

Rudolph’s research interests in the field of cardiovascular physiology and epidemiology is varied and addresses various hotly debated topics involving the use of urinary albumin excretion as a marker of cardiovascular damage and its prognostic significance in cardiovascular disease; blood pressure variability and its clinical applicability in cardiovascular risk stratification; leptin and its effects on the cardiovascular system; and even environmental cadmium pollution and its effects on the cardiovascular- and skeletal system. His research also involved oxidative stress and its involvement in cardiovascular disease and his current research question focusses on dietary iron intake, oxidative stress and associated cardiovascular risk.

Areas of research supervision

Rudolph’s experience compliments his role as an educator and mentor he has been or is currently the first or second supervisor of 11 MSc and 6 PhD students, actively publishing their work in high-ranking journals such as Journal of Hypertension (IF, 5.06); International Journal of Cardiology (IF, 4.64); Hypertension Research (IF, 3.21), Nutrition, Metabolism and Cardiovascular Disease (IF, 3.39), and Plos One (IF, 3.06).
