This research will attempt to shed light on the key senior leadership characteristics in the UAE police force and the impact of leadership characteristics on leadership effectiveness. The research applies a mixed methods approach. A qualitative component of 25 semi-structured interviews was used to gather detailed data, in a study population consisting of Commander-in-Chief, their deputies and Director - Generals. Documentation was reviewed to identify further evidence. Subsequently, a quantitative approach was used. 600 Questionnaires were distributed to the department managers and heads of division. A range of statistical methods were used to analyse the questionnaire data. Saifan's research supervisor is Dr Bronwyn Betts.
