Punita Bhatt is a Senior Lecturer at the Lord Ashcroft International Business School based in Chelmsford. She holds qualifications in business, finance and economics. Her PHD from Oxford Brookes University investigated social innovations in social enterprises in India.

Background

In her previous role, she provided consultancy to a national institution supporting enterprise educators through fellowships. She has also developed courses for international markets and professional doctorate programs in entrepreneurship.

Punita has over ten years teaching experience in business/management within Higher Education Institutions in UK. She has taught strategy, entrepreneurship, finance and international business at business schools in Coventry University, Bedfordshire University and Oxford Brookes University. 

Research interests

  • institutional support for women entrepreneurs from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • social innovation in resource constrained environments
  • leveraging social capital in social innovations

Punita’s thesis examined social innovations within for profit social entrepreneurial ventures in India. She has published on women’ empowerment through collective entrepreneurship in a women’s cooperative and recently completed a study on mentoring of women entrepreneurs in North West England. In the area of social innovations, she has published on leveraging social capital in social innovations and has recently completed a study investigating the development of free and open source software based social innovations in developing countries.

Teaching

Punita teaches international business modules at the Chelmsford campus.
