Academic qualification equivalents

for students coming from Canada to Anglia Ruskin

If you’re applying for an undergraduate course (year 1 entry) you must hold one of the following:

  • Alberta - General High School Diploma with at least 65% in 5 grade 12 subjects.
  • British Columbia - Senior Secondary Graduation Diploma with 5 Bs in 5 grade 12 subjects.
  • Manitoba - High School Graduation Diploma with 5 credits at 300 level in at least 4 subjects with at least 65% in each.
  • New Brunswick - High School Graduation Diploma with a least 65% in 5 grade 12 subjects.
  • Newfoundland - High School Graduation Diploma with 70% in 6 subjects at 3000 level/ Grade 12 or 65% in 9 subjects Grd. 12.
  • North West Territories - General High School Diploma with an average of at least 65% in 5 grade 12 subjects.
  • Nova Scotia - High School Completion Certificate with an average of at least 65% in 5 grade 12 subjects.
  • Ontario - Secondary School Diploma with at least 70% in 6 4U or 4M subjects (including 4U in English).
  • Prince Edward Island - High School Graduation Diploma with at least 65% in 5 grade 12 subjects.
  • Quebec - Diplome d'Etudes Collegiales (DEC).
  • Saskatchewan - Completion of grade 12 with at least 65% in 5 grade 12 subjects.
  • Yukon Territory - Senior Secondary Graduation Diploma with a minimum of 5 Bs in at least 5 grade 12 subjects.
  • a recognised foundation qualification

If you’re applying for a postgraduate taught course you must hold one of the following:

  • Bachelors (Honors) Degree with a CGPA of 6 or above (out of 9) or 2.7 or above (out of 4.0).
  • a recognised pre-Masters course

If you don't meet academic requirements for undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses then Cambridge Ruskin International College (CRIC) can help. CRIC provides foundation and pre-Masters courses which will help you meet the requirements for our degrees.

English language requirements

If English is not your first language you'll need to be able to show you have the required level of English language. This is so we can ensure you'll be able to follow your course.

• Our standard entry criteria for undergraduate courses is IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, with nothing lower than 5.5 in any of the four elements (listening, speaking, reading and writing). 

• Our standard entry criteria for postgraduate taught and postgraduate research courses is IELTS 6.5, with nothing lower than 5.5 in any of the four elements (listening, speaking, reading and writing). 

If you don't meet our English language requirements, our Language Services Unit (LSU) offers a range of courses which could help you achieve the level required for entry onto a degree course. Please email lsu@anglia.ac.uk for more information. 

At LSU we also provide our own English language proficiency test (ELPT); we offer this test both in the UK and overseas. To find out if we are planning to hold an ELPT in your country, please see events in your country or contact our country managers.
