Entry requirements

For students coming from Australia to ARU

For entry to a bachelor’s degree (year 1), we will consider the following qualifications:

  • A recognised foundation programme
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma 
  • International Advanced Levels (A Levels)
  • Senior Secondary Certificate of Education on completion of Year 12 with good grades, including: Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Year 12 Certificate,  New South Wales - Higher School Certificate (HSC), Northern Territory Certificate of Education (NTCE)/ Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (NTCET), Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE),  South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE), Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE), Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and Western Australia Certificate of Education (WACE).
  • AQF Certificate IV with good grades
  • Monash University Foundation with 50% or above in relevant subject

    For entry to a master’s degree, we will consider the following qualifications:

  • A recognised pre-Masters course
  • Bachelor Honours degree (4 years) with Second Class, Lower Division (division B/2) or above
  • Bachelor degree (3 years) with 60% or above

For entry to a research degree, we will consider overseas qualifications equivalent to a UK Master’s degree. Please visit our postgraduate research pages for more information on the application requirements. 

The above is a guide only and not all qualifications are listed. There may be additional course requirements, such specific subjects or grades, a portfolio or an interview, for example. These requirements will be detailed on each individual course page.

If you don't hold one of the qualifications above then  ARU College can help. ARU College provides foundationfirst year and pre-Masters courses, designed to prepare you for entry to your chosen degree.

English requirements

If English is not your first language you will need to be able to show you have the required level of English language. This is so we can ensure you'll be able to follow your course.

Our standard entry criteria for undergraduate courses is IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, with nothing lower than 5.5 in any of the four elements (listening, speaking, reading and writing).

Our standard entry criteria for postgraduate taught and postgraduate research courses is IELTS 6.5, with nothing lower than 5.5 in any of the four elements (listening, speaking, reading and writing).

If you don't meet our English language requirements, our Language Centre offers a range of courses which could help you achieve the level required for entry onto a degree course.

Our Language Centre also offers the English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT) in the UK and overseas. Check our events page for dates or contact our country managers for more information.
