Our IELTS Preparation Course provides an excellent opportunity to prepare yourself if you are considering taking an IELTS exam.
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is used to assess language ability in four language skills and is usually required for study or work in the UK (as well as some other English speaking countries) and for entry or visa purposes.
This course has been designed to ensure you know what to expect in the IELTS examination (Academic or General) and you have the best chance of achieving your optimum IELTS score.
Our IELTS Preparation course is held at our Cambridge Campus. It is a part-time course that runs in the evening for three hours per week. You can attend either a six or four week course depending on your level.
The IELTS preparation class is a part time programme and comprises of three hours per week for four or six weeks. You will study a total of 12 or 18 hours.
The course will help you understand the format of the exam and provide you with tips and techniques to improve your performance. You will practice the four skills areas covered by the exam, develop strategies to help you do well and improve your English in each area, learning about typical errors and how to avoid them. You will also gain guidance on independent study and resources that will help you improve your language levels prior to taking the exam.

The cost of the course includes the tuition fee and some course materials. The tuition fee does not include any text books. Before the start of the course we will send you a list of suitable text books for the course.
At the end of the course there won’t be a formal assessment but you will receive a certificate of attendance. Please note the IELTS exam is not included in the course fee. If you wish to take an IELTS at Anglia Ruskin University, we have exam centres in Cambridge and Chelmsford. (Please note that the Chelmsford test centre provides SELT exams, these need to be booked through the British Council and can be used for visa purposes when applying for an academic course).
We would recommend that you check availability of test dates, as they may get booked up during peak periods.

Once we have received your application form you will be sent an offer letter by email. You will need to return the acceptance slip and pay for the IELTS Preparation Course in full.
Before the start of your programme we will send you details on where you need to go to enrol and your course timetable.
