Biography

Tom Allcock joined CCAT in 1964 as an Assistant Lecturer in Economics. He later held appointments as Head of the Department of Management and Business Studies and then Vice Principal. After the 1989 merger he became Deputy Director Planning and in 1991, Director Cambridge, and was instrumental in achieving the full integration of two Schools of Nursing and Midwifery into the University, a feat which took almost three years of negotiation and which was successfully achieved in October 1992. Tom Allcock was a strong supporter of the merger, which enabled the two colleges to combine to become a Polytechnic in 1989 and a University in 1992. Since retiring he has been Chairman of CAMCAT Housing Association which has provided the Sedley Court accommodation exclusively for students of Anglia Ruskin University.

In 1992 Tom Allcock received an Honorary Fellowship of the University
