The challenges and opportunities of using models to inform decision making

The aim of the MRC Epidemiology Public Health Modelling group is to produce research models to answer questions about how changes in social and environmental factors would affect population exposures (primarily physical activity and diet), and how changes in exposures would affect health and other outcomes.

Davide Natalini will present how the findings from his research on food (in)security and food riots have been used for the development of an agent-based model and how this has been calibrated and validated. He will also present the results from the model simulations on future possible shocks on food production.
