Award winning sound editor Kate Hopkins is joining us in Cambridge to discuss her work on natural history documentaries.

Kate is based in Bristol where she works closely with Wounded Buffalo Sound Studios.  She started in the industry straight out of school as a receptionist at a film and TV post production company in Bristol.  She moved quickly into the cutting room as an Assistant Film Editor. After a couple of years she left to go Freelance and worked on drama and feature films as well as natural history programmes.  As she became more established as a Sound Editor she has specialised in natural history documentaries, working on Blue Planet, Planet Earth and the Frozen Planet series and in the past few years the Disneynature strand of natural history feature films.

Kate’s awards include Emmys, a BAFTA, a Royal Television Society Award and a Creative Technology Award for Women in Film and TV.
