The Little Pitch is an ideas generation competition to help spread, and embed, an entrepreneurial culture among all students studying at Anglia Ruskin University.
The aim of the competition is to provide a simple, accessible and engaging competition during semester 1 that encourages all students to come-up with imaginative and creative business ideas and then communicate and promote these online in 140 characters or less (like a tweet!).
The competition runs during the first semester in three one-month blocks, from October to December, with primary activity focused around an interactive website.
At the end of each month, two ideas - one as judged by the popular vote and the other chosen by an expert entrepreneur-in-residence -receive a prize of £140 and a Little Pitch t-shirt with a further three runners-up, also chosen by the entrepreneur-in-residence, winning a Little Pitch t-shirt.
Launched in 2012, the past four editions have had 844 entries and have allocated a total of £3,320 to our students.
In addition to encouraging students to come up with inspiring ideas, the competition also provides a springboard to The Big Pitch which takes place in semester 2.
The Little Pitch 2015 closed in December with a total of 174 great business ideas.
