Hello! First of all I’d like to apologise for my absence over the past couple of weeks. Almost every waking hour I have spent completing an assignment, due this coming Friday, which I would like to share with you in this quick update.

So to give you some background on my course, BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering, this semester consists of three modules:

  • Materials and Processes
  • Engineering Principles 2
  • Computer Aided Design (CAD).
The latter is majority assessed through an assignment. This assignment requires you to re-create an existing product on a computer through a design program. For my project I scoured the house in hope of finding something interesting to re-create that has more than ten assembly parts. I found a box of small model aero-engines, which dissembled into around 25-30 pieces.

My first experience of CAD, like when trying to understand and learn anything for the first time, took a bit of getting used to.

Now all I have to do is write up a report, add some fancy pictures and that will be one assignment out of the way for this semester – with only one more to go!
