Paul is active as a conductor and pianist and his research interests include composition, improvisation, electro-acoustic music and 20th century music, particularly the work of Luciano Berio and Percy Grainger.

Background

Paul gained degrees from the University of East Anglia, City University and Anglia Ruskin University. Before joining Anglia Ruskin in 1992, he was active as a performer and teacher in London, holding posts at the Royal College of Music and the University of Hertfordshire.

For several years he was co-director of the music-theatre company Innererklang, with whom he commissioned and premiered several new works. He is active as a conductor and pianist and for the University he directs the Anglia Symphony Orchestra, the contemporary music group Anglia Sinfonia and also Anglia Opera, which mounts bi-annual opera productions at the Mumford Theatre.
