Evaluating the Selection Procedure of Music Therapy MA Students

Helen Loth

Abstract

This small-scale study looks at one specific aspect of the selection procedure for applicants to the Music Therapy MA training course at Anglia Ruskin University. At present, the interview procedure consists of two main elements: an experiential music therapy group and an interview containing an audition element.

This study focuses on the music therapy experiential group, and considers in detail how it works, what information it produces which is different from or informs the rest of the interview procedure, and how effective it is. The results of the project will be used to clarify and improve the effectiveness of the selection procedure.
