Dr Jon Banks, Senior Lecturer in Music at Anglia Ruskin University, is musical director of a production of Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors currently showing at the Globe Theatre, London.

The widely acclaimed production stages a hectic tale of violent cross-purposes, furious slapstick and social nightmare. The narrative involves a pair of estranged twin brothers (both called Antipholus) and a pair of estranged twin servants (both called Dromio) that find themselves in a city with the reputation of sorcery. What happens next is chaos and mayhem.

Jon, a performer with an international profile and lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University since 2012, also plays the santouri and accordion as part of this production. He specialises in early and Oriental string instruments and has toured and recorded with groups including The Dufay Collective, The Burning Bush, the Jocelyn Pook Ensemble among other, and has lead performance workshops in collaboration with the BBC Concert Orchestra. Jon's field of expertise is world music and ethnomusicology with a particular interest in music of the Middle East.
