Anglia Ruskin lecturer designs Folk Festival bench

Anglia Ruskin Lecturer Ian Bennett, who teaches creative and digital publishing, designed a commemorative bench for this year's Cambridge Folk Festival. The bench is both a permanent memorial to Ken Woollard, one of the festival's founders, and a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Folk Festival.

Ian's design features a musician and a curving seat, and was built by blacksmith Mike Overall in stainless steel, a material that will last an exceptionally long time. It also looks different from the usual bench design associated with commemorative pieces.

As well as being a visibly commemorative piece, it's also useful as a seat. BBC Radio 2 used the bench to report from during the Folk Festival.
