Special event brings together staff and students past and present
On Saturday 14 June 2014, Anglia Law School celebrated its 50th birthday with a special event on our Chelmsford campus.
We were delighted to receive, appropriately enough, around 50 guests - not just alumni, but also past and current staff and some current law students.
We were especially pleased to have Don Hilton (Head of the Law Department during 1969-1976) attend, along with his daughter and grandchild. Don reminded many of his alumni contemporaries of their classroom behaviour, and all enjoyed reminiscing about their time at the school.
Also in attendance was Roger Smith, who completed his degree with us in 1974 before going on to such roles as financial planner in the City of London, 27 years providing financial and legal advice on BBC regional radio phone-in programmes and two years on TV-am, the first UK breakfast station. Other alumni included Nigel Harding, a Notary Public and partner of TWM Solicitors LLP, and Estelle Wolfers, who is now studying for a PhD at the University of Cambridge.
It was great to see some of our current law students networking with our alumni and listening to their stories. Our former students were particularly interested to see how much the campus had changed since their studies.
Head of School Penny English organised a Chelmsford campus quiz, and the event ended with a birthday cake, cut by Don, and a toast to the Law School with a glass of champagne.
Many thanks to all that attended and helped to make this such a successful event.
